GracieGoGoDesigns: Be yourself. Joyous. Unique. Special. Fabulous!
Grace Robertson came to the United States at age 13 in 2017 when she and her younger sister Abigaelle were adopted from their home country of Central African Republic by her American mom Abbey in Iowa. When they arrived they didn't speak any English. Learning to read for the first time, and write in a language she was just learning, was extremely hard. Not to mention the emotions of her past loss and joining a new family and new world altogether. So... she started crocheting... a lot. And then she found YouTube and Pinterest and she made hats and scarves, then she decided she wanted to try sewing and making patterns and using resin for barrettes and then candle wax with scents. And GracieGoGo Designs was born. The name has much meaning to her: Gracie is what her American Grandpa calls her and her Grandma (or Atawali) in Africa called her GoGo. She puts all of her proceeds back into her business and recently saved up and created her own Shopify account. The joy for her is truly in the making and the gifting to others. And in true business owner fashion she has gone through 3 name changes and 2 business cards in the last 3 years, loves to create videos on instagram and has already got to meet jewelry designers (like Lia Valencia Key and Marren Costello) in other parts of the country. Her mom in America is a Realtor and her remaining family in Africa are all entrepreneurs so she comes by it naturally. Her American family stays in touch with her African family as well as the orphanage and gives back as a family as well as serving on the Jonathans House for Orphans board. Grace has chosen to give back through her business as well, donating to the needs of those she loves in Africa, because that is just who she is! Her dream is to go to New York and further design her brand with even more meaning & impact in the world. And I think she just might do it!
